Research Interests:
I am currently a Research Associate at the LaMarsh Centre for Child and Youth Research at York University.
I completed my MA and PhD in social-personality psychology at York University under the supervision of Dr. Gord Flett. I received a diploma in health psychology as part of my graduate training. Our research focuses on the roles of trait perfectionism and perfectionistic self-presentation in psychological and physical health. We identify mechanisms and processes that help to explain the perfectionism-distress links. We also study the role of mattering to others in health and well-being.
My master's thesis looked at how perceived negative feedback from others and ruminating about interpersonal offenses mediated various aspects of perfectionism and both depression and social anxiety.
My dissertation examined the mediating role of self-image goals in the links between perfectionism and mental health.
In addition, I have collaborated with Dr. Deb Pepler on a longitudinal study of the links among peer victimization, self-esteem, rejection sensitivity, and health in high school students.
I have also worked with the York Region District School Board on a project about resilience, which was funded by the Ministry of Education, as well as with Desmond Ellis on projects about violence against women.
When I'm not busy with research, I'm interested in travel (the picture above is from a trip to Norway), fitness, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
